Lexpert? Nomen est omen?

Our company name is a combination of the word expert and the word lex, which is Latin and stands for contract or law.

Yes, we are lawyers, proactive preventive lawyers. We specialize in the integration of preventive law, quality and risk management in  business transactions and relationships. We promote and help our clients implement value-added contracting.

Preventive law and value-added contracting are probably not as well known as other sides of our profession. So what do we do?

We facilitate improvements in large organizations' contracting processes. We help our clients plan transactions and related documents so as to reach successful business relationships with predictable results. We work side by side with management, line personnel and quality and legal professionals in our client organizations in order to systematically improve contractual quality and risk management. Combining our experience with theirs, we help our clients avoid negative surprises, excessive costs and risks, disputes, and litigation. In international transactions, we are often asked to review and update our clients' procedures and forms in light of the uniform international commercial code, the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).  

The importance of training to achieve the desired results cannot be overstated. For successful implementation, a high level of awareness and ownership needs to be developed across the organization for the new policies and procedures. Prevailing attitudes may need to be changed. Participation in improvement teams and interactive training are our primary tools towards these goals. During the last few years, we have designed and conducted several in-house workshops on proactive, value-added contracting, contractual quality and risk management, and related subjects for a number of organizations in Finland and abroad. Through our training workshops we have helped our clients accelerate the learning needed to achieve positive change. It is our experience that people with changed attitudes in turn seek more knowledge and training - thus ensuring sustained high performance and continuous improvement.

We continue to work with our clients to discover new paths to improved contracting effectiveness, better awareness and management of legal risks and opportunities, and up-to-date contracting processes and documents.
